Our Ambassador, Taylor Love, talks about all things yoga and staying healthy inside and out.
Tell us a little about yourself!
Hi guys! My name is Taylor Love Wallace, and I’m from Northern California. I currently live in Orange County with my boyfriend and puppy. I am a fulltime wellness, beauty, and lifestyle blogger and have been blogging for about a year now. I just made the jump to go fulltime with blogging about 2 weeks ago and it has been the best decision EVER! I’m so happy to be pursuing my passion of wellness and health as my full time career. I want to inspire others to cultivate love and self-love from the inside out and believe in doing this by nourishing our bodies with healthy life-giving foods, positive and gentle self-talk, and treating ourselves to beauty products that can help us feel and look our best. I believe in loving ourselves, just as we are and being kind to our bodies.
So you're yoga teacher! How did you get into it?
I first got into yoga about 6 years ago when I was in high school. Little did I know, it would become such a huge part of my happiness and wellbeing! I recently completed my 200-hour teacher training through Yoga Works, which was the most amazing experience. I would highly recommend a teacher training to anyone interested in yoga! The knowledge of the practice and your own body that you gain is incredible.
Why do you think yoga is important for us?
What a great question!! I think yoga is amazing for many reasons but the most important benefit I’ve experienced is what yoga can do for our minds. Yoga brings me back to who I truly am and allows me to create space for my true self to shine. The practice of matching breath with movement that we learn in yoga helps to heal the anxious pathways that happen in our brains. It’s been pretty incredible the benefits that yoga has had on my life over time. I also love the way that yoga makes my body feel! I feel strong and my absolute best when I am practicing regularly.
It's important to take care of your physical body with Yoga along with having a healthy mind. How do you take care of your skin?
I have always had acne prone, oily skin! (Thanks Dad!!) Through my early teen years I struggled a lot with acne which ended up coming back during the end of college. Two years later my skin is mostly clear but now I’m working on evening my skin tone from redness and acne scarring I have. My number one skin tip is ALWAYS wash your face. I wash before bed every single night without fail and have for the last 15 years. I also bring face wipes with me to any workout I do and clean my skin of all makeup before my workout or yoga practice. After I exercise, I use another wipe to prevent clogged pores. Other than that, I really believe in masks! Not only are they amazing for skin but also give me a chance to pamper myself.
What would you recommend for people who are thinking of getting into yoga ?
Be gentle on yourself! It’s so easy to look on Instagram and see all these crazy poses and feel overwhelmed. Start by taking a level 1 class where a teacher can really work with you to learn the basics. The basics are so important and actually take a ton of self-control and strength! I still love taking beginner classes because I learn something new every time. Don’t let your ego get in the way or fall pressure to jumping into a crazy challenging class. I think it’s best to start slow and listen to what feels good to your body!
What is your life mantra?
Self-love from the inside out!
My middle name is love and the name of my website is loveinsideandout.com, which truly reflects who I am as a person and what I try to spread to others! I think that the world could use a little more positivity and love spread around. We have so many messages coming at us all the time telling us to lose a certain number of pounds or to look a certain way and I believe one of my purposes for being on this earth is to remind people just how beautiful and loved they are, just being themselves! We all are different, why not celebrate our differences rather than shame them?!
